I saw something in my quaint little town of Ashland that I had never seen before and it brought me back to my childhood… it was an ICE CREAM TRUCK!

I can remember as a child, growing up in Boscawen, NH, we’d hear the sound of the Ice Cream truck while it was still a block away, and that would give my sister, brother and I enough time to ask my mom’s permission to get an ice cream. Mom would always tell us to go see if dad has any money.

Poor dad, just imagine 3 kids running at you screaming “the ICE CREAM TRUCK is coming” at the top of their lungs. While dad is saying I don’t have any money we would already have our little arms halfway into his pockets pulling out change. My father would get exhausted trying to fight off all 3 of us so he always gave in just as the Ice Cream truck got to our house.

Everyone had their favorite… my favorite was the Chocolate Bar (that was like a Strawberry Shortcake) it had a piece of chocolate fudge/candy inside the ice cream.

I don’t know for sure what exactly happened to all the Ice Cream trucks but I have a theory… I think all the dads in the neighborhood might have gotten together and ran the Ice Cream men out of town in an attempt to save their change and avoid being attached by their kids each weekend - LOL :)
