These ownership interests are the same yet in practice they are used differently. You’ve heard of the timeshare resort that sells you a week of ownership per year. Many have found this to be a way to ensure they take some time off after all “we owe it to ourself and by gosh we are going to use it”. Many timeshare owners trade their vacation week to go to a new place each year. This involves an exchange to giving up their week at the resort they originally purchased. This is a great way to travel and arrange your accommodations that are going to be in theory equal or even better than the “unit” that you own. I personally have used my mother’s time share in Florida, and at one time made arrangements to visit Aruba through an exchange.

The quartershare concept is still fractional ownership, but its one week per month or a total of 13 weeks per year. This encourages more use at the “home resort” you bought at. Not only do you become more familiar with your surroundings because of the frequency of use but these are generally designed to have private storage for each owner and of course your week will coincide with the same owners each month.

The Loon Area offers two quarter share resorts: Deer Park resort offers 13 weeks of ownership as does the Mountain Club at Loon. Both have great amenities, rental, cleaning services and offer the vacation exchange option. Since this is deeded property it can be re-sold or even deeded to your heirs. This is an affordable ownership option when compared to “full” ownership. The resorts in our area are very reasonably priced compared to other quartershares offered in other areas around the country (prices generally range from $25,000 to $50,000 near Loon Mt).
