Ashland is a picturesque rural community, gateway to the Lakes Region and on the southern edge of the White Mountain National Forest. The community of Ashland is bordered on the west by the Pemigewasset River and on the east by Little Squam Lake. Ashland offers historical places, outdoor recreational opportunities, local artists and businesses to visit, as well as dining, shopping, and other services.

Ashland was originally part of the Town of Holderness but was separated and incorporated in 1868. Located in Grafton County, Ashland’s population is 2,076 and is both a residential and resort community. The town is home to The Ashland Railroad Station, a historic train station built in 1869 in order to provide passengers a station separate from the freight depot.

Resident students attend Ashland Elementary School for grades K-8 and Plymouth Regional High School in Plymouth.
