In and surrounding the town there are many choices for hiking; approximately 12 trails that vary in difficulty. The highest point in town is Bristol Peak, elevation 1,803 feet above sea level.

Bristol is a part of the New Found Area School District. Resident students attend Bristol Elementary School through grade 5; Newfound Memorial Middle School for grades 6-8 and Newfound High School through grade 12.
