Preparing Your Home to Sell

If you want to sell your home in the least amount of time and at the best possible price, work your way through this checklist to make sure you are presenting your home in its best possible light.  A few minor touch-ups can go a long way towards making a favorable impression on potential buyers - and perhaps cinching a deal. A clean, well-maintaintained home will always sell faster and for more money.

 

Clean, Clean, Clean

Maximize Curb Appeal

1. Dust everything, high and low

11. Mow the lawn and plant flowers

2. Clean your furnace

12. Sweep or hose clean the driveway

3. Declutter to create a larger space

13. Trim all shubbery

4. Make sinks and countertops sparkle

14. Keep the front entryway clean

5. Wash all windows and screens

15. Replace broken / cracked windows

 

 

Paint and Repair

Room by Room

6. Repaint walls in neutral colors

16. Eliminate strong, lingering odors

7. Update fixtures, faucets and hinges

17. Open windows, let in natural light

8. Make sure doors don't stick

18. Organize and declutter closets

9. Replace blown light bulbs

19. Remove all personal items

10. Take care of all major defects

20. Secure pets during showings
