Encore Thrift Shop is different, the proceeds they generate go right back in to the community. They give tens of thousands of dollars a year to assist area families in need and they are doing it from a very reliable source that has ongoing income. They even give gift certificates to the extremely needy who can't afford even their low prices.
The shop serves some key purposes; not only do they sell gently used clothing and household goods, they utilize the funds to provide financial support to Loon Mountain Ministries who then 
utilizes the funds to assist community members in need. Most recently Loon Mountain Ministries, led by Marcus Corey, collaborated with several other local organizations to create The Bridge Project. The Bridge Project's mission is "To strengthen our community by bridging those in need with the resources for positive life changes." The project employs a life coach who assists individuals and families to make positive life choices as well as assisting them through the process to access many other local resources.
